rooted in
history

Founded in 1906 by A.E. (Gene) Staley, whose vision and determination shaped our agricultural roots, we’ve grown into a future-focused leader in plant-based, renewable innovation.

From our start as A.E. Staley Manufacturing Co. in Decatur, IL, then acquired in 1988 by Tate & Lyle, to our evolution as Primient, we carry forward a proud legacy while driving sustainable growth.

Today, we’re committed to advancing plant-based solutions with cutting-edge science and technology—helping our partners innovate and thrive for a better tomorrow.

A 100-Year-Old Start Up

The company's journey started more than 100 years ago when A.E. (Gene) Staley founded the A.E. Staley Manufacturing Company in Decatur, IL. At Primient today, some second- and third-generation employees from the early Staley days take pride in walking the halls of Gene Staley’s iconic art deco "Castle in the Cornfields," dreaming up the next big idea just like Staley.

Introducing A New Era

Poland Office Opens

To support ongoing investment and organizational growth strategy, Primient opens new global shared service center in Łódź, Poland. The 620+ square meter office located in the heart of the community is home to around 100 Primient employees.

KPS Sole Ownership

KPS Capital Partners' ongoing confidence and investment in Primient’s potential has enabled $700 million dollars in investment to modernize and renew assets across the company’s plant footprint, positioning Primient to be the most committed, most reliable, and most sustainable supplier in the food and industrial ingredients industries for decades to come.

Advancing the Bioeconomy

Primient announced the development of a new demo-scale facility to allow biotech entrepreneurs to accelerate innovation in the bioeconomy and fast-track production of bio-based solutions. The project, called iPROOF (Illinois Pilot Research Operations Optimization Facility), will include re-commissioning and upgrading existing fermentation equipment at Primient’s corn wet mill in Decatur, IL. This project was awarded grant funding through the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA) Tech Hubs program.

Sustainea and Primient Partnership

Sustainea and Primient announce a co-location partnership in which Primient's Lafayette, IN facility will supply corn dextrose to Sustainea’s first Bio-MEG (monoethylene glycol) plant. Sustainea’s facility, with an investment of approximately $400 million, will produce a renewable, plant-based alternative to petroleum-based MEG.

Business Operations Office in Brazil

Primient announces the opening of its new office in São Paulo, Brazil. This workspace serves as the company's primary hub for business operations, customer meetings, and logistical support. This move underscores Primient’s goal of strengthening its presence in the region and fostering deeper partnerships with local and international clients.
